Let Us Take You Home to Lallybroch.

Let us take you to some of the most iconic locations from the hit TV show where you can follow in the footsteps of Claire & Jamie. This is your opportunity to see for yourself where it all happened.

We begin our day by heading to the village of Culross which has been used multiple times for Outlander filming. Culross was most famously used as the location of Cransemuir in Season 1 where Geillis Duncan lives. You will step back in time with your guide as you make your way through the cobbled streets which have retained so many of the 16th and 17th features that make it so important to Scotland’s past.

Our next stop is Linlithgow Palace which was used as the location for Wentworth Prison. One of the most magnificent palaces in Scotland and birthplace of Mary Queen of Scots. You will be given around 1 hour to explore the palace and purchase a quick lunch at one of the nearby cafes. (Entrance to Doune Castle is not included).

After our lunch, we will make our way towards the Doune Castle which was the location of Castle Leoch in Outlander. Your tour guide will be on hand to show you around the castle and answer any questions you may have. An audio guide device is also available and is included in your castle entrance. As well as Outlander, Doune Castle was also used in Monty Python and the Holy Grail, Winterfell in the Game of Thrones Pilot Episode and more recently, the Douglas Castle in the Outlaw King. (Entrance to Doune Castle is not included).

Next, we will make our way to Blackness Castle which portrayed Black Jack Randall’s Fort William Headquarters in Outlander. Known as ‘The ship that never sailed’ Blackness Castle sits on the Firth of Forth with impressive views across the river. With its dark and rather gory history, there could not be a more perfect home for Black Jack. Your guide will be on hand tell you all about the history of the castle and it’s use in Outlander while you explore the castle and grounds. (Entrance to Blackness Castle is not included in the tour).

Our last stop of the day is the much anticipated Midhope Castle which features as Jamie Fraser’s family home of Lallybroch in the Outlander series. Nestled in the middle of the Hopetoun Estate this very beautiful, rural ruin is immediately recognisable. Due to the building’s state of disrepair, we cannot enter the building itself as it is unsafe, but you may walk around the outside taking care to respect the people who live and work on the estate. Midhope Castle sits on private land, and it may be closed at any time out with our control. (Entrance to Midhope Castle is not included in the tour).
