Oban, Iona & Mull Five Day Tour

Oban Bay from the water

A Scottish Odyssey: 5 Days of Enchantment in the Scottish Isles

This Isle of Skye tour takes you on a journey of discovery through the breath-taking beauty of the Scottish Highlands and the spectacular Island of Skye.

On the way to Skye you will experience the beauty of Loch Lomond, the grandeur of Glencoe and the wilderness of Rannoch Moor as we make our way northward. See for yourself the famous ‘Harry Potter Bridge’ (Glenfinnan Viaduct) with an option to ride the famous Jacobite Steam Train or ‘Hogwarts Express’ as it is better known to some.

You’ll spend your first night on the mainland in the Great Glen. The next day you’ll be transported over the sea to the isle of Skye, courtesy of the Skye bridge, to explore all this magical Island has to offer. Believe us it is not named the Jewel of the Scottish Isles for no reason. See the mystical fairy pools, magnificent Dunvegan Castle, and the impressive Kilted Rock.

Embark on a romantic five day journey through the mystical landscapes of Scotland, where history whispers in the winds, and nature’s beauty unfolds at every turn. Your private odyssey begins in Glasgow, spiriting you away to the tranquil shores of Loch Lomond, through historic marvels like Auchentoshan Distillery, Kilchurn Castle, and the serene St Conan’s Kirk, ending each day in the picturesque harbor of Oban.

As the adventure unfolds, the Isle of Mull beckons with its kaleidoscope of colors in Tobermory, ancient stories etched in Duart Castle, and the untouched beauty of Calgary Bay. The isle’s rugged landscapes, dotted with hidden lochs and quaint villages, are a tapestry of nature’s finest work.

A spiritual interlude on the sacred Isle of Iona, with its ancient abbey, contrasts with the natural spectacle of Fingal’s Cave on the uninhabited isle of Staffa, offering moments of profound tranquility and awe.

This journey is more than a tour; it’s a heart-stirring escapade into Scotland’s soul. From the quiet contemplation in the hallowed halls of Iona Abbey to the serene walks along Mull’s pristine beaches, every moment is a step through a storybook of Scottish legends and lore.

As you return to Glasgow, the memories of this enchanting expedition – the taste of the freshest seafood, the sound of the ocean whispering against rugged cliffs, the sight of eagles soaring over serene lochs, and the feeling of being part of something timeless – will stay with you, a romantic tale etched in your hearts forever.

This isn’t just a trip; it’s an intimate embrace with Scotland’s most captivating mysteries and majesties. A journey where every path leads to discovery, every turn reveals a new wonder, and every day ends with the promise of more magic to come.

Day 2 - The Isle of Mull & Tobermory

Today starts with a ferry ride from Oban Bay to the Isle of Mull. This little island is a highlight for many visiting Scotland’s West Coast, praised for its stunning beaches, vibrant cultural life, and great outdoor activities, including walking and kayaking.

Disembarking from the ferry we will drive to the most northern town on the island, Tobermory. Famed for its colourful buildings, it is one of Scotlands most photographed towns. Legend has is that the wreck of a Spanish Galleon, laden with gold, lies somewhere in the depths of Tobermory bay, however the ships identity, and cargo, are much in dispute.

Mull is a haven for wildlife enthusiasts. Having earned the enviable title of the best wildlife tourism destination is the UK, birdwatchers and wildlife lovers flock to the island hoping for the chance of spotting red deer, otters, seals, dolphins, seabirds and of course eagles. Crowned “Eagle Island” by Birdwatching magazine, Mull is the best place in the UK to see both White-tailed and Golden eagles.

Day 3 - iona abbey & Fingals Cave

Day three begins with another ferry ride, this time taking the journey to the Isle of Iona, believed to be the birthplace of Christianity in Scotland. Here you will have a chance to explore Iona Abbey, one of the most elaborate and well preserved religious building in Scotland, dating from the Middle Ages. You can also see the ancient remains of the monastery, founded by St Columba and his 12 companions who arrived from Ireland in the 6th century AD. This islands small size belies its global significance and stunning natural beauty, with turquoise waters and white beaches.

There will be the option to take one of the small tour boats which leave Iona bound for the nearby uninhabited island of Staffa. Best known for Fingal’s Cave, a geological wonder constructed of hexagonal basalt columns that were formed some 50 million years ago. Staffa is also home to ground nesting birds such as Puffins making it a must see for bird watchers.
