Lowland & Campbeltown 5 Day Whisky Tour

Private Multi-Day Island Distillery Adventure

If you want to taste Scotland beyond the usual whisky headline acts, this private Lowland and Campbeltown whisky tour is a cracking choice. The Lowlands are known for smooth, elegant, approachable drams, often a perfect introduction, while Campbeltown brings a very different personality: maritime character, depth, and a proud whisky heritage packed into a small peninsula.

This tour is private and flexible, with a friendly, professional guide and an itinerary that can be adapted around the distilleries and tasting styles you’re most interested in. You can follow a proven route featuring favourites like Glenkinchie, Kingsbarns, Lindores Abbey, Auchentoshan, Clydeside, Glen Scotia and Springbank, or we can tailor the order and experiences based on availability and your whisky preferences.

If you’re ready for a multi-day whisky journey that combines city-to-coast scenery, historic distilleries, and standout tastings, book your Lowland and Campbeltown tour, and we’ll help you shape the perfect route.

We begin with pickup from Edinburgh or Glasgow and head into the Lowlands, where we enjoy rolling countryside, easy driving, and a great introduction to the region’s whisky style.

  • Glenkinchie Distillery – a traditional Lowland distillery experience, with a tour that covers the production process and a guided tasting that highlights the light, floral Lowland profile.

  • Kingsbarns Distillery – a modern Lowland favourite set in a beautifully restored building near the Fife coast. Expect a polished visitor experience and a tasting that leans into fruit-forward, elegant flavour.

  • Lindores Abbey Distillery – often linked to Scotland’s earliest recorded distilling reference (1494) and a fascinating stop for anyone who likes a bit of history alongside their dram. Explore the site and enjoy a tasting of their expressions.

Day 1: Lowland Classics - Glenkinchie, Kingsbarns & Lindores Abbey

Today bridges Lowland whisky and the journey to the Kintyre Peninsula, with excellent distillery visits before the scenery turns properly coastal.

  • Clydeside Distillery (Glasgow) – a great modern distillery tour that also connects nicely to Glasgow’s whisky and shipping heritage.

  • Auchentoshan Distillery – known for triple distillation, producing a famously smooth style. Tour and tasting options are available depending on your preference.

  • Scenic drive down the Kintyre Peninsula – a beautiful route with sea views and excellent photo stops. If conditions are clear, you’ll get those classic “edge of Scotland” coastal landscapes.

Overnight: Campbeltown.

Day 4: Campbeltown to Annan - Coastal Scotland & Annandale Distillery

Today, we journey east through changing landscapes, coastlines giving way to quieter Lowland scenery as we head toward Dumfries and Galloway.

  • Scenic drive with comfort stops along the way—this is a great day to pace things gently.

  • Annandale Distillery (Annan) – a restored historic distillery with an engaging tour and tasting, offering a slightly different Lowland style to round out the trip. It’s a strong contrast after Campbeltown and a great “final chapter” distillery experience.

Overnight: Annan / Dumfries area.

A full day in one of Scotland’s smallest and most characterful whisky regions, with big flavour and long history.

  • Glen Scotia – learn the story of a distillery that has helped keep Campbeltown’s whisky identity alive, followed by a guided tasting.

  • Springbank Distillery – a must for enthusiasts. This is one of the most traditional operations in Scotland and produces Springbank, Longrow, and Hazelburn, each with a distinct style. Tours here are in high demand, so advance planning is essential.

  • Machrihanish – time to explore the wider area and include a stop tied to Campbeltown’s broader whisky heritage and coastal setting. (Depending on your preferred experiences and availability, we’ll shape this afternoon to suit.)

Overnight: Campbeltown.

Day 5: Moffat Toffee & Scotch Malt Whisky Society Finale (Edinburgh or Glasgow)

We finish the tour with a relaxed return north, plus a few last stops that are very much in the spirit of the trip.

  • Moffat – a charming stop for the famously addictive Moffat Toffee, plus a chance for a final wander and coffee.

  • Scotch Malt Whisky Society (SMWS) – if you’d like to end with something special, we can finish at the Edinburgh (Leith) SMWS venue, or the Glasgow venue if that suits your travel plans. This is an excellent way to explore single cask, cask strength whiskies and pick up bottles you simply won’t find on a standard shelf.

Drop-off: Edinburgh or Glasgow (as agreed).
