Mull, Iona & Staffa 3 Day Tour

An Unforgettable Island Tour from Glasgow or Edinburgh

If you want a proper taste of Scotland’s west coast islands, but you don’t have a full week to disappear into the Hebrides, this private 3-day Mull, Iona and Staffa tour is the sweet spot. You’ll travel from Glasgow or Edinburgh to the “gateway to the isles” at Oban, cross to the wildly beautiful Isle of Mull, step onto the sacred sands of Iona, and (weather and sailings allowing) cruise out to Staffa to see the jaw-dropping basalt columns of Fingal’s Cave.

This tour blends coastal scenery, ancient history, and Hebridean wildlife at an easy pace, with your own private guide and vehicle. It’s ideal for photographers, nature lovers, and anyone who’d like their Scotland served with sea air and a bit of magic.

Ready to island-hop properly? Book your private Mull, Iona & Staffa tour, and we’ll tailor the timings around ferry schedules, seasonal wildlife, and your preferred pace.

We begin with pick-up from your accommodation in Glasgow or Edinburgh and head west through changing scenery—from city streets to lochs, glens, and coastal views.

  • Loch Lomond & The Trossachs (scenic drive + optional stop) – if you’d like, we can pause for a short lochside stroll or photo stop to stretch the legs and take in the views.

  • Oban – Scotland’s “Seafood Capital” and a lively harbour town. There’s time for a wander along the waterfront and, if it suits the schedule, a chance to grab lunch (fresh seafood is the local speciality for a reason).

  • Ferry to Mull – the crossing from Oban Bay is a classic west coast moment: sea views, islands on the horizon, and that immediate “ahhh, this is different” feeling.

  • Mull’s scenic interior – once on the island, we’ll drive through rugged landscapes and quiet coastal stretches, with opportunities to stop for viewpoints and wildlife spotting.

Today is the heart of the tour: spiritual history, white-sand beaches, and an optional boat trip to one of Scotland’s most famous sea caves.

  • Ferry to Iona – a short crossing that feels like you’re stepping into another world.

  • Iona Abbey – explore one of Scotland’s most important early Christian sites, with time to wander the abbey, grounds, and surrounding village at a relaxed pace.

  • Iona’s beaches and coastline – turquoise water, pale sand, and big skies. It’s incredibly peaceful, and yes, it really does look that good in real life.

  • Optional: Boat trip to Staffa & Fingal’s Cave – weather and sailing schedules permitting, travel to the uninhabited Isle of Staffa. Fingal’s Cave is a geological showstopper, formed from hexagonal basalt columns. In season, Staffa is also a fantastic place for seabirds, including puffins (typically April to August).
