St Andrews Old Course and Swilcan Bridge

St Andrews & The Fife Coast

The home of golf, Scotland's best fish & chips and stunning coastal views

This is a classic Scottish day out with a brilliant mix of coastal scenery, history, and food worth travelling for. On this private day tour to St Andrews and the Fife Coast you’ll visit the world-famous Home of Golf, explore one of Scotland’s most charming seaside towns, and finish with award-winning fish and chips in the charming fishing village of Anstruther.

And if the timing works, we’ll also include a stop at Dunfermline Abbey, one of Scotland’s most significant historic churches.

We begin in St Andrews, a town that manages to be historic, beautiful, and slightly smug about it, with good reason.

For golf lovers, this is pilgrimage territory: the Old Course, the Swilcan Bridge, and that instantly recognisable links landscape where the game’s history is still very much alive. Even if you’ve never held a club in your life, it’s hard not to feel the atmosphere here.

But St Andrews isn’t only about golf. You’ll have time to enjoy the town itself, from the elegant streets and university buildings to the dramatic ruins of St Andrews Cathedral, once the largest church in Scotland. If you fancy a breath of sea air, we can also stop at West Sands Beach, famous for its wide-open views and windswept walks.

St Andrews: The Home of Golf (and so much more)

Next, we head to the East Neuk of Fife and the harbour village of Anstruther, home to the legendary Anstruther Fish Bar. This is the real deal: beautifully cooked fish, crisp batter, and chips that actually deserve the name. It’s long been a favourite with locals and visitors alike, and it’s the perfect place for a relaxed lunch.

If the weather behaves (no promises, it’s Scotland), you can take your fish and chips down to the harbour and enjoy them with views across the water. It’s simple, it’s classic, and it’s a memory most people bring up long after the tour ends.

If time allows, we’ll include a visit to Dunfermline Abbey, an important site in Scotland’s royal story.

This is the resting place of Robert the Bruce, and it’s also closely linked to Saint Margaret and Scotland’s medieval kings and queens. The abbey ruins and surrounding grounds are atmospheric and surprisingly peaceful, a fitting final stop before returning to the city.
